Derren Brown TV Special

According to UK laws, only qualified armourers are allowed to fire live rounds. Therefore, the Darren Brown Russian Roulette TV special was recorded at Francheville Farm, Grouville, Jersey. In the show, which lasts a total of 50 minutes, Brown had to choose one person out of a group of contestants to be his assistant.

There were about 12,000 applications, out of which Brown chose five people. They went through a range of psychological tests and were trained to load a revolver. A young man named James was chosen by Brown and appointed as his assistant. He was asked to load a six-round revolver with only one bullet and to remember in which chamber he loaded it. The six chambers were all numbered from one to six.

Once he had done that, Brown’s assistant, who was the only person in the room aside from Brown himself, was asked to stand behind an armoured glass for security measures and count from one to six. At that point, the 3,300,000 viewers were already holding their breath. Moments later, seemingly distressed, Brown points the gun to his head and starts firing.

He shoots chambers three and four, at which point nothing happens. Then, he decides to fire the fifth one away, but it turns out that he has made a mistake, and this is not the loaded chamber. We will not spoil the TV special any further. You can watch the available Derren Brown Russian Roulette YouTube video to know what happens next.
